Need Some Help setting up my next hunt
I'm pretty new to Coyote hunting. I am planning to go out next week. i have a place in mind, but was wondering if you guys wanted to share some input about how to set it up. This area is behind my house, so it is nice and close. it is all County land, and there are no houses except for mine within 2.5 miles. I will probably be able to round up one other person to hunt with.
-My topo maps are not working, but the area slopes down to the river like you would expect. Just have to use your imagination.
-The wind typically come from the North-west.
-The red grid is a square mile
-I am not sure if I should sit high on the bank in the brush and call them to the open ice?
-Sit on the open ice and call them out to me?
- sit in the brush and call them from across the flowage?
- I would be interested in staying in the Western part of the flowage, the East has a dam, and sometimes an ice shanty.
-Also some wind considerations would be helpful. I know I would want to stay downwind to not get winded, but would the yote circle around me to come at the call from down wind. Having him coming from my backside?
Any game plans that you guys could offer would be appreciated
